About Mr. KimA native of South Korea, Mr. Kim earned his Bachelors majoring in Violin from Han Yang University in South Korea, where he served as concertmaster in his senior year. He came to the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore and studied with two world-renowned violinists, Mr. Berl Senofsky and Ms. Shirley Givens. Mr. Kim received his Masters Degree and Graduate Performance Diploma majoring in Violin from the Peabody Conservatory of Music.
He has had the opportunity to work with several performing groups in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area including the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Goucher Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore, and Maryland Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Kim is currently the Director of Orchestras at River Hill High School and Lime Kiln Middle School. Before joining the HSGTO in 2019, Mr. Kim has served the Howard County Middle School GT Orchestra/Sinfonia for 16 years as a co-director. Outside of his school orchestras, he is the director of the Bethel Emmanuel Youth Orchestra. Mr. Kim lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife Min, an oboist who also graduated from the Peabody Conservatory, and his two kids, Josh and Justin. |
